2006 Player and Pitcher of the Week Honorees

Lebanon, Ill. – Brian Dinkelman of McKendree College has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week for April 3. Dinkelman, a senior shortstop from Irvington, Ill., was a key factor in helping the Bearcats to perfect 6-0 record last week. He batted .565 for the week with 13 hits in 23 at-bats. Dinkelman had five doubles, two home runs and 12 runs batted in. He also stole three bases and posted a slugging percentage of 1.043 for the week. Dinkelman belted two home runs and had eight RBI in the Bearcats' 14-1 win at home against Missouri Valley College on March 29. That pushed his career home run total to 49, which is tied for the Bearcats' all-time mark with Eddie Breuchaud. In addition, Dinkelman became the Bearcats' all-time leader in runs scored, and now has 270 in his career. University has been selected as the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of
the Week for April 3. Basta, a senior from Ballwin, Mo., led the Spartans to
a 6-0 shutout win against Hannibal-LaGrange College last weekend. The
left-hander tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts in helping Missouri
Baptist to a four-game sweep of the Trojans. |
