Men's Basketball - Eddie Smith, University of Illinois at Springfield
For the third time this
season, Eddie Smith from the University of Illinois at Springfield has
been selected as the American Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Player
of the Week. Smith, a 6-2 senior guard from Springfield, Ill., averaged
17.5 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals per game in
leading the Prairie Stars to a pair of AMC victories last week. In
addition, Smith shot 43 percent from the field and was a perfect
11-for-11 from the free throw line in the two contests. He posted 23
points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals in a 74-65 UIS win
over Harris-Stowe State University on Feb. 3.

Women's Basketball - Theresa Goodwin, Hannibal-LaGrange College
Theresa Goodwin from
Hannibal-LaGrange College has been selected as the American Midwest
Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 5. Goodwin, a
5-10 senior guard from Oakland, Calif., averaged 20 points, 6.5 rebounds
and four assists in helping the Trojans to a 1-1 record last week. She
poured in 30 points during an 81-78 Hannibal-LaGrange victory Feb. 3 at
Missouri Baptist University. For the week, Goodwin shot 37 percent from
the field, 43 percent from three-point range and was 8-of-9 from the
free throw line (89 percent). This marks the second time in 2006-07 that
Goodwin has earned AMC Player of the Week honors.
