Men's Basketball - Cory Farmer, University of Illinois at Springfield
Cory Farmer from the
University of Illinois at Springfield has been named the American
Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 19.
Farmer, a 5-10 senior guard from Lincoln, Ill., had a big week as the
Prairie Stars wrapped up the 2006-07 AMC regular-season championship. In
two games, Farmer averaged 21.5 points and four assists per contest. He
posted 26 points, four rebounds, four assists and five steals while
going 12-of-15 from the free throw line in a 94-86 UIS victory at
McKendree College that sealed the league title. Farmer shot 40 percent
from the field (12-of-30) and 80 percent from the free throw line
(17-of-21) in the two wins. The Prairie Stars claimed the outright AMC
regular-season championship after sharing the 2005-06 crown with
Columbia College.

Women's Basketball - April Redus, Missouri Baptist University
April Redus from Missouri
Baptist University is the Feb. 19 honoree as the American Midwest
Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Redus, a 5-8 junior
guard from Myrtle, Mo., put up some eye-popping numbers in helping the
Spartans to wins over AMC foes William Woods University and Williams
Baptist College. Redus averaged 24 points and 6.5 rebounds in the two
games. She connected for 28 points with seven rebounds against William
Woods, and followed that with a 20-point, six-rebound effort at Williams
Baptist. Redus shot 53 percent from the field (16-of-30), including a
phenomenal 56 percent (14-of-25) from three-point range. She also made
both of her free throw attempts on the week.
