Men's Basketball - Eddie Smith, University of Illinois at Springfield
Eddie Smith of the University of Illinois at Springfield has been named the American Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 15. Smith, a 6-2 senior guard from Springfield, Ill., led his hometown Prairie Stars to a pair of AMC road victories last week. He registered 16 points, seven rebounds and nine assists in a 93-69 win over Harris-Stowe State University, and followed that with 33 points, nine rebounds, three assists and seven steals in a 96-86 triumph over Missouri Baptist University. Smith averaged 24.5 points, eight rebounds, six assists and 3.5 steals for the week. He also shot 60 percent from the field and 93 percent (13-of-14) from the free throw line.

Women's Basketball - Theresa Goodwin, Hannibal-LaGrange College
Theresa Goodwin of Hannibal-LaGrange College has earned American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Jan. 15. Goodwin, a 5-10 senior guard from Oakland, Calif., poured in 23 points and added nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals in the Trojans' 98-78 home victory against Missouri Baptist University. Goodwin was 10-of-15 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. She was a first-team All-Conference selection in 2005-06.
