Matt Mills of Williams
Baptist College is the Feb. 21 choice for the American Midwest Conference
Men's Basketball Player of the Week award. Mills, a 6-0 senior guard from
Rector, Ark., led the Eagles to an 82-72 upset victory over No. 19
Columbia College on Feb. 17. Mills poured in 21 points in the contest,
which included a 4-of-5 effort from three-point range. As a team, Williams
Baptist hit 10-of--12 shots from beyond the three-point arc. In addition,
Mills added two rebounds and an assist in the win while going 5-of-6 from
the free-throw line.

Women's Basketball - Alli Arppe, McKendree College
Alli Arppe of McKendree College has been selected as the American Midwest
Conference Women's Player of the Week for Feb. 21. Arppe, a 6-0
senior forward from Helsinki, Finland, averaged 23 points and 8.5 rebounds
per game in guiding the Bearcats to a 3-0 record on the week. Against
Brescia University, Arppe recorded a double-double, scoring 21 points while
grabbing 10 rebounds in helping her team to a 67-49 road win. Earlier in
the week, in a McKendree 86-80 win over Hannibal-LaGrange, Arrpe tied her
career-high with 25 points while grabbing seven rebounds and recording
three steals. On the week Arppe shot 48 percent from the floor while
hitting on 80 percent of her free throws.
