Men's Basketball - Bryant Lyles, McKendree College
McKendree College's Bryant Lyles has earned American Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Feb. 13. Lyles, a 6-5 senior guard/forward from Hazelwood, Mo., was honored for his all-around performance in the Bearcats' two AMC victories last week at home against Harris-Stowe State University and Columbia College. Lyles averaged 27 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.5 blocks and 3.5 steals in those contests. He shot 54.8 percent from the field and a stellar 93.8 percent from the free throw line. In addition, Lyles made 5-of-6 shots from beyond the three-point arc. In a 24-point, seven-rebound performance versus Harris-Stowe, Lyles matched career highs with four blocked shots and seven steals. He followed that with 30 points and 15 rebounds in the Bearcats' overtime win against Columbia. Lyles accounted for 10 of the Bearcats' 14 points in the extra period, and made 13-of-14 shots from the charity stripe.

Women's Basketball - LaTrice McMichel, Missouri Baptist University
LaTrice McMichel from Missouri Baptist University has been named the American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. McMichel, a 6-1 senior guard from Indianapolis, Indiana, averaged 36.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and six assists per game in helping her team to a 2-0 record on the week. McMichel scored 30 points to go with seven rebounds and seven assists in leading the Spartans to a 78-65 win over McKendree College. She followed that game with a 43 point outburst against Williams Baptist College. She also added eight rebounds, five assists and five steals in the 80-75 road win. On the week McMichel shot 59 percent from the field and 85 percent from the free throw line. She also knocked down 60 percent of her three-point shots.
