Men's Basketball - Chance Smith, Williams Baptist College
For the second
consecutive week, Chance Smith of
Williams Baptist College has been named the American Midwest Conference
Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Smith, a 6-6 sophomore center from
Bono, Ark., earned the award by turning in two more solid performances
for the Eagles. In two games, Smith averaged 33.5 points and 10 rebounds
per contest. He posted 33 points and 10 rebounds in a 102-85 road loss
to the AMC's top team, the University of Illinois at Springfield. Smith
followed that by matching his career high with 34 points, along with 10
rebounds, in a 95-93 home loss to Harris-Stowe State University. Smith
shot 77.8 percent from the field (28-of-36) and 78.6 percent (11-of-14)
from the free throw line.

Women's Basketball - Megan Martin, Hannibal-LaGrange College
Megan Martin, a 5-10 forward
from Hannibal-LaGrange College, has been named the American Midwest
Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 30. Martin, a
junior who hails from Kahoka, Mo., averaged 20.5 points, 11.5 rebounds
and 2.5 assists for the week. Martin recorded back-to-back doubles
against conference opponents Columbia College and Harris-Stowe State
University. Against Harris-Stowe Martin scored 25 points while grabbing
12 rebounds and dishing out four assists. Martin shot 56-percent from
the floor on the week, while hitting on three-of-three three-point field
goals and eight-of-10 free throws.
