Men's Basketball - Mike Strobbe, McKendree College
Mike Strobbe of
McKendree College has earned American Midwest Conference Men's
Basketball Player of the Week honors for Feb. 6. Strobbe, a 6-7 junior
forward from Ferguson, Mo., had a big hand in two Bearcat victories last
week. He averaged 20.5 points, 15 rebounds and two assists in leading
McKendree to AMC road wins at Williams Baptist College and the
University of Illinois-Springfield. Strobbe poured in a career-high 33
points and grabbed a season-best 17 rebounds in McKendree's 100-83 win
against Illinois-Springfield, the No. 19 team in NAIA Division I. He
connected on 11-of-12 shots from the field and 11-of-14 attempts from
the free throw line in the contest. For the week, Strobbe shot 77.8
percent from the field (14-of-18) and 76.5 percent from the foul line
(13-of-17).

Women's Basketball - LaTrice McMichel, Missouri Baptist University
LaTrice McMichel of MIssouri
Baptist University has been named the American Midwest Conference
Women's Basketball Player of the Week. McMichel, a 6-1 senior guard from
Indianapolis, Ind., led her team to a 2-0 record on the week. She
averaged 36.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Against
Harris-Stowe State University McMichel broker her own single-game
scoring record with 46 points. She added seven rebounds, four assists
and three steals as well in the game. She followed that performance with
a 27 point, six rebound and three assists performance against William
Woods University. On the week, McMichel shot 54-percent from the floor
and knocked down 16-of-21 free-throw attempts.
