Player of the Week - Walter Bethea, Park College

[Columbia, MO] - Walter Bethea, a 5-10 senior guard for the Park College Pirates, has been named the American Midwest Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 22 - 28. Last week, against three nationally ranked opponents, Bethea averaged 35.7 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game. Bethea knocked down 38 of his 77 shot attempts, including 19 of 39 behind the three-point line. He also connected on 86 percent of his free throws, scoring on 12 of his 14 attempts. The Leavenworth, Kan. native gave Park its first win of the season last Tuesday, when he sank a three-pointer with two seconds remaining to defeat William Jewel College, 86-85. In addition, Bethea was also awarded Most Valuable Player honors at the Oklahoma City University Classic.
