2005 Women's Soccer All-Conference Team

McKendree’s Jenna Shellenberg named conference MVP for second consecutive year, Strange Named Coach of the Year
for third consecutive time

Lebanon, Ill. – McKendree College junior forward Jenna Shellenberg has been named the 2005 American Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Year. This marks the second straight year that Shellenberg has taken home the award. Shellenberg, who hails from Troy, Ill., led the conference in scoring with 15 goals and one assist for 31 total points. Shellenberg becomes the first player to win consecutive AMC conference MVP honors since Erin Jewell of William Woods University did so in 2001 and 2002.

The AMC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year goes to Tim Strange of McKendree College. Strange has now won the award each of the last three seasons and has taken home the award five times in his seven seasons at McKendree.. He helped guide McKendree College to their third straight undefeated season in conference play capturing the 2005 AMC title.

Katelyn Cleveland, a freshman midfielder from McKendree College has been named the 2005 AMC Women's Soccer Freshman of the Year. Cleveland stepped in and made an impact in her first collegiate season leading the Bearcats in assists with 11 while also chipping in with two goals on the season.

Ashley Morgan, a sophomore forward from William Woods University has been named the 2005 AMC Women's Soccer Newcomer of the Year. The Newcomer of the Year award is given to the top transfer student-athlete in the conference. Morgan netted eight goals this season while dishing out nine assists for 25 total points in just 13 games played.

The Fair Play & Sportsmanship Award is annually presented to one AMC women’s soccer squad based on two areas of sportsmanship. First, teams are awarded points based on their total number of red and yellow cards accumulated throughout the regular season. Second, AMC coaches vote on the squads, ranking their level of sportsmanship during their respective contests. The recipient of the Fair Play & Sportsmanship Award is Harris-Stowe State University.
