Jenks Snags AMC Most Valuable Player Honors

Columbia, Mo. - Brad Jenks, a midfielder for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the AMC Most Valuable Player in a vote by league coaches. The junior from Columbia, Mo. racked up 10 goals and seven assists during the regular-season, fueling the Cougars to a #9 ranking in the final NAIA men's soccer rankings.

Antonio Neto, a midfielder for the Harris-Stowe State College Hornets is the 1998 AMC Freshman of the Year. Neto, who played in 14 games in the regular-season, netted 10 goals and passed out five assists for the Hornets. Neto is a native of Floriaopolis, Brazil.

The Newcomer of the Year honor is given to the top transfer-student in the AMC, as voted on by league coaches. Roshan Bassett, a junior forward for Columbia College, is the 1998 recipient of this award. Bassett, who originally hails from Bethalto, Ill., tallied three goals and one assist in regular-season action.

The AMC Coach of the Year is Dan Hogan from Columbia College. Hogan led the Cougars to a regular-season record of 14-4 and a #9 ranking in the final regular-season NAIA poll. Hogan reached another milestone in his career this season when the Cougars defeated Hannibal-LaGrange College, 4-0 in the first round of the AMC Tournament. The win was Hogan's 100th career victory at Columbia College.

A complete list of the 14-member AMC All-Conference team, the Honorable Mention squad and the Academic All-Conference team, are listed on the following pages. Members of the Academic All-Conference team have earned at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
