Player of the Week – Stacey Smarr, William Woods University

Columbia, Mo. – Stacy Smarr, a junior shortstop for the William Woods University Owls,  has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women’s softball for the week of March 11-17. Smarr batted .636 (14-of-22) for the week, including four home runs and 12 RBIs, leading the Owls to a mark of 8-1. In a 5-1 win over NCAA Div. II Missouri-Rolla, Smarr was three-for-three with a home run and a stolen base.

Pitcher of the Week – Jayne Miller, Columbia College

Columbia, Mo. – Jayne Miller, a right-handed hurler for the Columbia Cougars, has been named the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week in women’s softball for the week of March 11-17. Miller was 4-0 on the week, earning victories over Williams Baptist College, University of Missouri-St. Louis and two over Lincoln University. In her two wins vs. Lincoln, Miller, who hails from Palmyra, Mo., she struck out 26 batters. For the week, she fanned 31 batters in 29 innings of work, recording a .483 earned run average.
