Player of the Week – Angie Niemeyer, McKendree College

Columbia, Mo. – Angie Niemeyer, a junior outfielder for the McKendree College Bearcats,  has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women’s softball for the week of March 18-24. Niemeyer led McKendree to a 4-0 finish last week, tallying nine hits in 14 appearances at the plate for a batting average of .643. The Fairview Heights, Ill. native recorded two doubles, three RBIs and scored five runs.

Pitcher of the Week – Amy Maurer, McKendree College

Columbia, Mo. – Amy Maurer, a right-handed hurler for the McKendree Bearcats, has been named the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week in women’s softball for the week of March 18-24. Maurer pitched 11 innings last week, recording two wins, while allowing just two runs, one walk and no earned runs. The freshman from Florissant, Mo. fanned 21 batters, giving up just six hits.
