Player of the Week – Stacey Smarr, William Woods University

Columbia, Mo. – Stacey Smarr, a junior shortstop for the William Woods University Owls,  has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women’s softball for the week of April 1-7. Smarr tallied 11 hits in 23 at-bats for the Owls last week, recording a batting average of .478. In addition, she racked up a triple, two two-run homeruns and nine RBIs. Smarr is a native of Columbia, Mo.

Pitcher of the Week – Jayne Miller, Columbia College

Columbia, Mo. – For the second consecutive week, Jayne Miller, a right-handed pitcher for the Columbia Cougars, has been named the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week. Miller, a native of Palmyra, Mo., pitched in 24.33 innings last week, totaling a 2-0 record. She allowed just one earned run and 12 walks, while striking out 25 opposing batters. Versus 13th-ranked St. Xavier University, she led the Cougars to a 1-0 victory, going 12 innings and recording 12 strikeouts.
