Player of the Week – Angie Niemeyer, McKendree College

Columbia, Mo. – Angie Niemeyer, a junior leftfielder for the McKendree College Bearcats, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women’s softball for the week of April 8 - 14. Niemeyer led McKendree to a 7-2 mark last week, tallying a .333 batting average with nine hits in 28 appearances at the plate. In addition to scoring three runs and contributing a double, triple and a home run, the Fairview Heights, Ill. native tallied seven RBIs, including five game-winning runs batted in.

Pitcher of the Week – Mindy Jameson, McKendree College

Columbia, Mo. – Mindy Jameson, a senior pitcher for the McKendree Bearcats, has been named the AMC Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 8 - 14. Jameson had a record-setting week last week, breaking her own school record for strikeouts in a season. With her 33 strikeouts last week, she has 143 on the season, surpassing her previous mark of 137 from last season. In addition, against St. Francis (Ill.) College, she tied the school mark for wins in a season (17). The McClure, Ill. native also came within two outs of recording a no-hitter in McKendree's 7-0 win over league foe Missouri Baptist College. For the week, Jameson recorded a 5-0 record, giving up no earned runs and just nine walks.
