
2006 Softball All-Conference Team
William Woods University takes home AMC Tournament Title
Springfield,
Ill.
– Top seeded William Woods University defeated second seeded McKendree
College 5-3 to win the 2006 AMC Postseason Tournament. William Woods,
ran through the tournament undefeated, going 4-0 in the
double-elimination tournament and earning an automatic bid to the NAIA
Region V Tournament May 9-11 in Springfield, Mo. Jennifer Golden, a freshman from William Woods University, has been named the 2006 American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Year. Golden, went 18-6 on the season with a 1-16 earned-run average and 172 strikeouts in 151 innings pitched. In addition Golden picked up the deciding win for the Owls in the AMC Tournament championship game. The 2006 AMC Coach of the Year in is Tracy Gastineau. Gastineau guided the Owls to a 43-11 overall record and a 13-1 record in conference play. The Owls are also ranked No. 13 in the latest NAIA Softball Poll. A complete list of the 18-member AMC All-Conference team, the honorable mention squad and the academic all-conference team, is included below. Members of the academic all-conference team have earned at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. |
