Player of the Week –Julie Meier, Missouri Baptist College

Kirksville, Mo. –Julie Meier, a junior shortstop for the Missouri Baptist College Spartans, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women’s softball. Meier recorded a batting average of .563 last week, stepping to the plate 16 times and connecting for nine hits. In addition, the Warrenton, Mo. native logged two doubles and seven RBIs and scored seven runs, leading the Spartans to a 5-1 record for the week, including a 2-0 start in AMC regular-season play.

Pitcher of the Week – Natalie Buitink, Columbia College

Kirksville, Mo. – Natalie Buitink, a senior for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week in women’s softball. In her lone outing versus nationally-ranked McKendree College last week, Buitink logged a zero ERA in seven innings on the mound, leading the Cougars to a 2-1 victory. The right-handed hurler from Bartlesville, Okla. allowed only two hits, striking out four batters.
