Player of the Week –Tara Gaines, Columbia College

Kirksville, Mo. –Tara Gaines, a senior third baseman for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women’s softball. The right-hander from Hannibal, Mo. hit .542 for the week, slugging 13 hits in 24 at-bats. As the lead off hitter in Columbia's line-up, Gaines managed a base hit in four of the Cougars seven games, including a lead off knock against Oklahoma City, who is currently ranked as the second-best team in the NAIA. For the week, Gaines racked up two triples, three RBIs and four stolen bases.

Pitcher of the Week – Amie Touchette, McKendree College

Kirksville, Mo. – Amie Touchette, a junior southpaw for the McKendree College Bearcats, has been named the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week in women’s softball. Touchette recorded two wins and a save, pitching 14.1 innings and allowing zero earned runs. A native of Waterloo, Ill., Touchette fanned 15 batters while walking only two.
