Player of the Week –Sheri Zeiger, Columbia College

Kirksville, Mo. – Sheri Zeiger, a senior rightfielder for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women’s softball. Zeiger led the Cougars to a 7-2 record for the week, slugging 12 hits in her 27 at-bats and playing error-free in the outfield.

In AMC action versus Park University and William Woods University, Zeiger hit .615 with a double, four runs scored, two RBIs and three stolen bases. Versus Oklahoma City University, ranked #2 in the latest NAIA poll, Zeiger smashed a triple. For the week, Zeiger hit .444, totaling seven runs, one double, one triple, three RBIs and four stolen bases.

Pitcher of the Week – Jayne Miller, Columbia College

Kirksville, Mo. – Jayne Miller, a right-handed hurler for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the AMC Pitcher of the Week in women's softball. Miller took the mound in four games last week, pitching 27 innings and recording 35 strikeouts and an ERA of .518. In a 4-0 win versus conference foe William Woods, the Palmyra, Mo. native allowed only one hit, while striking out 10 batters. Against Oklahoma City University, ranked #2 in the the latest NAIA poll, Miller pitched a perfect game through four innings. For the game, she struck out 10 batters and allowed only five hits and one earned run.
