Player of the Week – Melissa Payne, William Woods University

Columbia, Mo. – Melissa Payne, a senior outfielder for the William Woods University Owls, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women’s softball for the week of April 12-18. In WWU's two victories over AMC foe Hannibal-LaGrange, Payne made eight trips to the plate, logging four hits. The St. Louis native racked up one double, one triple, one home run and four RBIs in her two outings, including the game-winning RBI in WWU's second victory over Hannibal-LaGrange.

Pitcher of the Week – Heather Curry, Park College

Columbia, Mo. – Heather Curry, a senior pitcher for the Park College Pirates, has been named the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week in women’s softball for the week of April 12-18. In the Pirates' two outings last week, Curry pitched all 15 innings, recording an ERA of .933. The right-handed hurler from Excelsior Springs, Mo. led her team to a 1-1 split in a doublenew_amc_logo vs. the #4 team in the Midwest Region, McKendree College. In the first game, Curry battled eight innings on the mound, but the Pirates could not hang on, dropping the contest, 3-2 in eight innings. However, Curry and the Pirates stormed back in the second game, grabbing a convincing 7-1 win over their conference foe.
