Player of the Week –Danna Gilbert, McKendree College

Kirksville, Mo. – Danna Gilbert, a senior outfielder for the McKendree College Bearcats, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women’s softball. Gilbert recorded a batting average of .452 for the week, slugging 14 hits in 31 at-bats. The Florissant, Mo. native totaled two doubles, one triple, two RBIs and two stolen bases for the week.

Gilbert broke McKendree's record for career hits, clubbing her 198th with a triple in the finals of the AMC post-season tournament versus Columbia College. That triple, Gilbert's ninth, also set a new record at McKendree. Gilbert leads the Bearcats in hits (62), batting average (.403) and runs scored (26) for the season. Gilbert was named to the AMC All-Conference First Team for her outstanding play throughout the regular-season.

Pitcher of the Week – Natalie Buitink, Columbia College

Kirksville, Mo. – Natalie Buitink, a senior right-handed hurler for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the AMC Pitcher of the Week in women's softball. Buitink won three out of five games for the Cougars last week, including two shutouts in the AMC post-season tournament. She recorded an ERA of .350, allowing only one earned run in 20 innings. In addition, the Bartlesville, Okla. native fanned eight batters. Buitink showed her offensive prowess as well, sparking Columbia's offense in the top of the third inning of the AMC championship game with a base hit.

For her efforts throughout the regular-season, Buitink was named to the AMC All-Conference First Team. In addition, she was voted the league's Pitcher of the Year by AMC coaches.
