Player of the Week – Tara Adams, Columbia College

Columbia, Mo. – Tara Adams, a junior centerfielder for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women’s softball for the week of April 26-May 2. Adams was instrumental in Columbia's AMC Tournament Championship. The Ballwin, Mo. native tallied a batting average of .571, collecting four hits, including two RBIs and two doubles, in her seven trips to the plate. Adams turned in clutch performances for the Cougars, recording her RBIs in crucial moments of the AMC tournament. Her first RBI came in the quarterfinal round vs. Missouri Baptist College, when her hit tied the game in which Columbia would eventually claimed, 3-2. Adams got her second RBI in the semi-final round against William Woods University. Her hit increased the Cougar lead to 2-0 and helped solidify the win.

Pitcher of the Week – Natalie Buitink, Columbia College

Columbia, Mo. – Natalie Buitink, a senior pitcher for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week in women’s softball for the week of April 26-May 2. Buitink led the Cougars to the 1999 AMC Tournament Championship, taking the mound in 16.33 out of 21 innings for the Cougars. She allowed only one earned run in three games and gave up only 10 hits and two walks.
