Columbia Cougars Claim Ninth Consecutive Conference Tournament Title

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia Cougar women’s volleyball team scored its ninth consecutive AMC postseason tournament title today, defeating the Missouri Baptist College Spartans by scores of 30-15, 30-20 and 30-22. With the win, Columbia will receive the No. 1 seed and a bye in the NAIA Region V Tournament that is set to begin next week. As the runner-up in the AMC Tournament, the Spartans also receive an automatic berth to the regional playoffs. Two teams from the Heart of America Athletic Conference as well as two at-large teams will also advance to the six-team, single elimination tournament. The winner of the Region V tournament will receive an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament in West Palm Beach, Fla. on Nov. 28 – Dec. 1.

In her first season in the AMC, Moreno committed just 62 hitting errors in 533 attempts, converting 50 percent of her attempts into kills.
