Player of the Week - Rose Obunaga, Columbia College

Lebanon, Ill. – Rose Obunaga, a senior outside hitter from Columbia College, has been named the AMC Player of the Week for Sept. 19. Obunaga, from Nairobi, Kenya, helped the Cougars remain perfect in conference play with her effort in victories against the University of Illinois-Springfield and Williams Baptist College. In two matches, Obunaga registered 28 kills with an attack percentage of .521. She also collected 22 digs and 14 blocks, including five solo blocks. This is the second time in 2005 that Obunaga has earned AMC Player of the Week accolades.

Also nominated: Ana Mercado of Missouri Baptist University, Meredith Myers of William Woods University, and Chrissy Simones of McKendree College.

Setter of the Week - Shannan Swiney, Missouri Baptist University

Lebanon, Ill. - Shannan Swiney of Missouri Baptist University is the AMC Setter of the Week for Sept. 19. Swiney led the Spartans to a perfect 2-0 week, which were AMC wins against the University of Illinois-Springfield and Hannibal-LaGrange College. She dished out 56 assists in just six games for an average of 9.3 per contest. In addition, Swiney posted 10 digs, seven kills and six service aces. Swiney is a junior from St. Louis, Mo.

Also nominated: Luana Branco of Columbia College, and Lindsay Amerson of McKendree College.

Libero of the Week - Marcy Gibson, McKendree College

Lebanon, Ill. – Marcy Gibson of McKendree College has been selected as the AMC Libero of the Week for Sept. 19. Gibson, a junior outside hitter/right side from Carbondale, Ill., helped the Bearcats to three victories in five outings last week. She registered 81 digs and 114 pass attempts in 21 games. Gibson also had 14 service aces, 13 of which came in the Bearcats' 3-1 run during the McKendree Classic over the weekend.

Also nominated: Jenna Holdmeyer of Columbia College, and Abby Funderburk of William Woods University.
