Player of the Week - Rose Obunaga, Columbia College

Lebanon, Ill. – Rose Obunaga, a senior outside hitter from Columbia College, has been selected as the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week for Oct. 3. Obunaga, from Nairobi, Kenya, posted 85 kills in helping the Cougars to a perfect 5-0 record last week. She had a hitting percentage of .447 in the process. In addition to her offensive numbers, Obunaga collected 52 digs and 33 blocks, which included 19 solos.

Also nominated: Ana Mercado of Missouri Baptist University, and Chrissy Simones of McKendree College.

Setter of the Week - Luana Branco, Columbia College

Lebanon, Ill. - Luana Branco of Columbia College has earned American Midwest Conference Setter of the Week accolades for Oct. 3. Branco, a freshman from Sao Paulo, Brazil, dished out 173 assists in five Cougar victories last week. She also posted 63 digs, three services aces and 12 blocks. Offensively, Branco had 30 kills with a hitting percentage of .491 in helping Columbia improve to 17-1 overall.

Libero of the Week - Tracey Abell, Missouri Baptist University

Lebanon, Ill. – Tracey Abell from Missouri Baptist University is the American Midwest Conference Libero of the Week for Oct. 3. Abell, a freshman from St. Charles, Mo., was a big factor in leading the Spartans to five victories in as many matches last week. Abell recorded 80 digs with just three reception errors in 75 chances. She also collected 11 service aces as Missouri Baptist pushed its season record to 15-2.
