Player of the Week - Ana Mercado, Missouri Baptist University Lebanon, Ill. – Ana Mercado of Missouri Baptist University is the Oct. 17 choice for the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week award. Mercado, a junior outside hitter from Tepic, Mexico, led the Spartans to NAIA Region V victories against McKendree College and Missouri Valley College. She collected 34 kills and had a hitting percentage of .644 for the week. In addition, Mercado posted nine digs, seven service aces and two blocks. Mercado currently leads the AMC in both kills and service aces. Also nominated: Rose Obunaga of Columbia College, Lauren Sanders of the University of Illinois-Springfield, and Ashlee Pyron of McKendree College. Setter of the Week - Megan Leonard, University of Illinois-Springfield
Lebanon, Ill.
- Megan Leonard from the University of Illinois-Springfield has been
selected as the AMC Setter of the Week for Oct. 17. Leonard, a 5-8 senior
from Effingham, Ill., had 95 assists in three conference matches last
week, including 42 against William Woods University. Leonard also had 21
digs, three service aces and three blocks. Leonard ranks third in the AMC
in assists. Libero of the Week - Tracey Abell, Missouri Baptist University Lebanon, Ill. – Tracey Abell of Missouri Baptist has earned AMC Libero of the Week honors for Oct. 17. Abell, a 5-5 freshman from St. Charles, Mo., had 28 digs in the Spartans' NAIA Region V victories against McKendree College and Missouri Valley College. Abell had 33 pass receptions and chalked up two service aces. Abell leads the conference in digs. Also nominated: Jenna Holdmeyer of Columbia College. |
