Player of the Week - Yi Zhang, Columbia College

Lebanon, Ill. – Yi Zhang of Columbia College has been selected as the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week for Sept. 25. Zhang, a 5-11 outside hitter from Suzhou, China, collected 61 kills in leading the Cougars to a perfect 5-0 record last week. Included in that total were nine kills against No. 10-ranked Hastings College and 13 attacks versus No. 13 Albertson College. Zhang, a sophomore, also added 51 digs, seven service aces and nine blocks for the week.

Others nominated include: Randi Tyler of Missouri Baptist University, Kari Boeckman of Hannibal-LaGrange College and Lisa Witte of McKendree College

Setter of the Week - Allison DeGroot, McKendree College

Lebanon, Ill. - Allison DeGroot of McKendree College is the Sept. 25 honoree as the American Midwest Conference Setter of the Week. DeGroot, a 5-7 junior from Highland, Ill., handed out 262 assists in helping the Bearcats to five wins in six matches last week. She topped the 50-assist mark twice during the week, with a high of 51 in a win against Bethel College (Ind.) at the Trinity Christian College Troll Invitational. DeGroot also had 22 kills, 56 digs, 10 service aces and seven blocks for McKendree.

Others nominated include: Shannan Swiney of Missouri Baptist University, Luana Branco of Columbia College and Stephanie Abernatha of Hannibal-LaGrange College.

Libero of the Week - Tina Perry, William Woods University

Lebanon, Ill. – Tina Perry of William Woods University has been named the American Midwest Conference Libero of the Week for Sept. 25. Perry, a 5-1 sophomore from Willard, Mo., had a solid all-around week for the Owls. She posted 50 digs in two matches for an average of 6.3 per game. Perry handled 63 passes on the week and committed just seven errors. She was also perfect in the serving department with three aces and no errors in 31 attempts.

Others nominated include: Shari Tuttle of Columbia College, Tracey Abell of Missouri Baptist University and Marcy Gibson of McKendree College
