Player of the Week - Ana Mercado, Missouri Baptist University

Lebanon, Ill. – Ana Mercado from Missouri Baptist University is the Oct. 2 recipient of the American Midwest Conference Volleyball Player of the Week award. Mercado, a 6-3 senior outside hitter from Tepic, Mexico, registered 83 kills in four matches last week to average 5.93 kills per game. Mercado also collected 52 digs, 14 service aces and 11 assisted blocks. Mercado, the 2005 AMC Player of the Year, currently leads the AMC in kills per game and service aces per game.

Setter of the Week - Shannan Swiney, Missouri Baptist University

Lebanon, Ill. - Shannan Swiney of Missouri Baptist University is the Oct. 2 honoree as the AMC Volleyball Setter of the Week. Swiney, a 6-2 senior from St. Louis, Mo., had 201 kills in five matches last week for the Spartans. She averaged 12.6 sets per game in leading Missouri Baptist to three victories. Swiney also had 63 digs, 11 service aces and 12 assisted blocks. Swiney leads the AMC in assists at 12.5 per game.

Libero of the Week - Tracey Abell, Missouri Baptist University

Lebanon, Ill. – Tracey Abell of Missouri Baptist University is the American Midwest Conference Libero of the Week for Oct. 2. Abell, a 5-4 sophomore from St. Peters, Mo., posted 135 digs in five matches last week for Missouri Baptist. She also handled 172 pass attempts and had nine service aces in 101 chances.
