Player of the Week - Mariuska Hamilton, Columbia College

[Columbia, MO] - Mariuska Hamilton, a senior outside hitter  for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women's volleyball for the week of Sept. 6-12. Hamilton totaled 34 kills in 51 attempts (67%) last week, helping her team maintain an unblemished 8-0 record and retain its #1 ranking in the NAIA National Poll. A native of Edo Bolivar, Venezuela, Hamilton also recorded one solo block and 12 assist blocks. In addition, she finished the week with 27 digs and no errors to accompany seven service aces.

Setter of the Week -Deng Yang, Columbia College

[Columbia, MO] - Deng Yang, a 6-1 setter for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the American Midwest Conference Setter of the Week in women's volleyball for the week of Sept. 6-12. Yang recorded 96 assists, averaging eight in each of the Cougars 12 games. In addition, Yang, who hails from Chang Zhou, China, turned in 15 kills in 33 attempts and added four service aces.
Also nominated: Michelle Henry, William Woods University; Gina Heinen, McKendree College.

Specialist of the Week - Brooke Harmon, William Woods University

[Columbia, MO] - Brooke Harmon, a junior defensive specialist for the William Woods University Owls is the American Midwest Conference Specialist of the Week in women's volleyball for the week of Sept. 6-12.  Harmon totaled 31 digs for the Owls last week, passing accurately on 89 percent of her attempts. In addition, the Kansas City, Mo. native added 10 assists, on solo block and seven assist blocks.
Also nominated: Sarah Humphrey, McKendree College.
