Player of the Week - Meleishia Purcell, Missouri Baptist College Columbia, MO - Meleshia Purcell, a junior middle hitter for the Missouri Baptist Spartans, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week in women's volleyball for the week ending Oct. 21, 2001. Purcell led the 24th-ranked Spartans to a 4-1 record last week, averaging 3.7 kills and 1.4 blocks per game. The 6'0" Pago Pago, A. Samoa native committed just 14 errors in 129 attack attempts and totaled 59 kills. Also nominated: Jennifer Curry, William Woods University; Sherri Eaton, McKendree College, Crystal Abel, Columbia College. Setter of the Week- Brandi Schroeder, Missouri Baptist College Columbia, MO - Brandi Schroeder, a 5'10" junior setter for the Missouri Baptist College Spartans, is the American Midwest Conference Setter of the Week for the week ending Oct. 21, 2001. Schroeder tallied 201 assists last week, averaging 12.6 per game. In addition, Schroeder, who hails from Pacific, Mo., recorded 47 digs, nine blocks and nine service aces.
