Player of the Week - Deng Yang, Columbia College

[Columbia, MO] - Deng Yang, a 6-1 outside hitter for Columbia College, has been named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week for women's volleyball for the week of Oct. 19 - 25. Yang, a native of Chang Zhou, China, helped guide the Cougars to a 3-0 record last week, including victories over the #7 and #17 ranked teams in NCAA Division II competition, Central Missouri State University and the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Yang totaled 39 kills in only 71 attempts, while committing only nine hitting errors. In addition, Yang recorded six assist blocks, 36 digs and six assists.

Setter of the Week - Yang Zhe, Columbia College

[Columbia, MO] - Yang Zhe, the 5-11 setter for the Columbia College Cougars, has been named the American Midwest Conference Setter of the Week for women's volleyball for the week of Oct. 19 - 25. Zhe, a senior from Liao Lang, China, racked up 114 assists last week, averaging 12.67 a game. Zhe also recorded four service aces and 12 kills to compliment her defensive efforts, which included 35 digs and four assist blocks. The Cougars, who are ranked #1 in the most recent NAIA volleyball poll, is undefeated on the the season with a record of 31-0.

Specialist of the Week - Lisa Eversgerd, McKendree College

[Columbia, MO] - Lisa Eversgerd, a senior from McKendree College, has been named the American Midwest Conference Specialist of the Week for women's volleyball for the week of Oct. 19 - 25. The 5-9 defensive specialist totaled 55 digs in five matches last week, averaging 3.06 digs per game. In addition, Eversgerd added 4.17 passes per game to McKendree's attack, recording a passing percentage of 92 percent. She also collected 10 service aces for the week. Eversgerd is a native of Germantown, Ill.
